Sewing pattern tutorial: the Cuba Libre dress

Light and danceable, it's impossible to resist the Cuba Libre dress ! The pattern comes in an incendiary open back version and a more modest closed back version that is bra compatible. This dress pattern is as pretty as it is accessible in sewing level. The waist is supported with a blouse effect on the bust in front, while the back of the dress is elasticated, so no zip or buttonholes to plan.

The front bust has a neckline cut out by a very feminine V-neckline, and the butterfly sleeves are very pleasant to wear in summer.

The technical points covered in this video sewing tutorial are:

  • Sew gathers
  • Put an elastic waistband in a belt
  • Put on sleeves
  • Sewing a facing on a V-neckline

Allure Gypset: the Cuba Libre dress in bohemian lace

For this version of the dress, the amount of fabric is different because the shell lace has a particular direction. The positioning will be done with the fabric at the fold, on a height of 1m40 and the quantities of fabric are: 2m80 in 34-36, 3m in 38-44 and 3m30 in 46-52. The dress is well lined on the skirt and the bust in front, following the information mentioned in the brochure (assembly range and quantity of fabric for the lining, everything is explained). The lining was cut in our cotton voile. Here is the cutting plan:

Happy sewing!

Bonjour,
