À L’Ombre Des Roses – Spring-Summer 2025 Collection

After this winter's seaside laden with sea spray, I invite you to follow me into a garden of intoxicating scents. The Shore was inspired by the harshness of windswept coasts. The newÀ L'Ombre Des Roses collection is a delicate setting, a gateway to a world that gently reveals itself.

The look is becoming more bohemian, but with the desire to bring character to your hand-sewn wardrobe. I chose to mix slightly romantic pieces, like an airy lace top or a vaporous blouse, with more graphic pieces like a spencer-style jacket or jeans with a worked style and a very wide leg.

Delicate creations, floral prints, bold cuts, for the most beautiful summer wardrobe... Let me introduce you to our new products, and discover the Frequently Asked Questions dedicated to our new collection, so "À L'Ombre Des Roses" will no longer hold any secrets for you, while waiting for the online launch on Thursday, March 13 at 9 a.m. !

The new patterns in the collection

Each model is distinguished by signature elements of the Maison Fauve wardrobe: a delicate neckline, pleat work, darts, pocket finishes and even a studied back detail.

The Spencer Damascus

The Damascus spencer embodies structured elegance with a contemporary touch. Collarless and double-breasted for a graphic look, it features well-defined shoulders accentuated by a pleat. Its cut is short, and enhanced by a construction with a slight edge. Comfortable and impeccably finished, it will be versatile depending on your choice of fabric. See the pattern

The Ronsard pants

The Ronsard jeans brilliantly expand the range of Maison Fauve trouser sewing patterns: the cut is wide leg, with a very wide leg and well-fitted hips to slim the silhouette. The waist is high but its ease has been designed to be comfortable both sitting and standing. It features all the signature elements of jeans: topstitching details, ticket pocket, nicely cut back rise, and the size and shape of the back pockets nicely highlight the buttocks. See the pattern

The top Belle Épine

The Belle Épine top is an ode to bohemian femininity, and the perfect little summer top. Quick and easy to sew, it features ties to tie it on the shoulders, a pretty V-neckline at the front and back that's not too deep (and bra compatible). The signature detail of this timeless summer wardrobe staple: the bust darts that adorn the front of the garment. It comes with or without a ruffle, to vary the styles. It consists of 2 pieces: the top top, embellished with darts that radiate from the center line at the front, and the bottom top that serves as a lining, with classic darts. The finishes are perfect, with sides assembled with French seams. See the pattern

The Rosalie dress

The Rosalie dress is a little gem of femininity, with its beautiful V-neckline, offset shoulder line, fitted cut, leg-revealing slit, and gathered bust. It also comes as a Rosalie blouse, an adorable, very feminine bodice. The pattern allows you to sew a sleeve with a buttoned or knotted finish. See the pattern

The Hesperide blouse

The Hespéride blouse combines the comfort of a flowing blouse with a very carefully crafted cut: the front bust is designed to provide a beautiful fullness without unsightly volume because it is not gathered. The back has a crazy charm, with its V-shaped opening and its gathers that unfurl. The raglan sleeves have a sleeve head constructed with small pleats, for a beautiful shoulder line, and the model allows you to sew a blouse with or without a button placket (in order to vary the pleasures but also the level of sewing). The season's key fabrics

The À L'Ombre Des Roses collection features carefully selected fabrics to perfectly complement our sewing patterns.

Available in Magenta, Cerise, Yellow, Dark Violet and Blue, it is perfect for sewing dresses, blouses and pretty summer tops. View fabric

  • Mystic Rose White Jacquard : This textured fabric is a true marvel with its tone-on-tone quilted details. Used for the Damask spencer, it gives a sophisticated structure to the silhouette. View fabric

  • Parade Camel cotton jacquard fabric : Perfect for Ronsard trousers, this tailoring-inspired fabric is more summery and less rigorous in caramel tones. See the fabric

  • The Anthracite Grey tailored wool : 100% wool, soft and comfortable to wear, with an impeccable drape, to further play on the mix of influences in gypset allure and contemporary look. See the fabric

It combines the richness of tweed with a lightness suited to the season, offering an interesting texture and optimal comfort.

FAQ – In the Shadow of Roses, Spring-Summer 2025 Collection

About the bosses

Can I sew a top version of Rosalie and remove the zipper?

The blouse version of Rosalie is already planned on the pattern outline. However, the cut remains as fitted as that of the dress; the blouse version is in fact designed as a bodice. You will need to keep the same zipper in both cases.

Can I use the existing pattern to sew a skirt version of Rosalie?

The pattern will need to be adapted by cinching it at the waist and finishing it at the waistline with an inner hem or a belt. It will necessarily close with a side zip, as there is not enough room to simply add an elasticated waistband.

Can I sew the Rosalie dress without a slit?

Yes, it's very easy! Simply follow the specific instructions for the right side of the dress. This will not affect the comfort of the dress.

Can I make the Rosalie dress shorter (above the knee)?

Yes, you just need to cut the bottom of the pieces directly to the desired length.

Can I adjust the height of the slit on the Rosalie dress?

Yes, you just need to transfer the cut-out outline specific to the left part of the dress to the desired height on the middle front and left front side pieces.

Can I fit a collar to the Damascus spencer?

The pattern is not intended for this purpose. However, if you have a solid foundation in pattern making or the desire to challenge yourself, sewing knows no limits ;)

Can I sew the Damascus jacket without lining?

It is still possible to sew a jacket without a lining, but you will need to adapt the finishing touches because the assembly seams will not be protected or hidden by a lining. A tutorial dedicated to sewing an unlined jacket/coat is available on our website in the "Tutorials" section.

Can I sew the Damascus jacket without an epaulette or sleeve cap cigarette?

The particularity of Damascus lies in its marked shoulder line and its fold which draws the point of the shoulder. The presence of epaulettes and cigarettes of the sleeve head serves to offer a beautiful finish of the sleeve and a clean shoulder line. If you decide not to sew them your garment will not have the same fall as in our visuals and the fold will be less well defined.

Can the Hespéride blouse be lengthened into a dress?

It is possible to extend the model directly from the bottom of the front and back pieces, but be careful to check that your extended piece fits within your width because the bottom of the front and back busts extends a lot.

Can the Belle Épine top be lengthened into a dress?

For the version without a ruffle, it is possible to lengthen the model directly from the bottom of the front and back pieces, giving a little ease at the hips. This is a transformation that we have already described for lengthening the Cicadella blouse or the Spritz tank top duo.

If you want to extend the ruffle, check that your extended piece fits within your width as the ruffles are "shaped".

Can the leg width of Ronsard jeans be reduced?

The pattern's volume and shape were designed for this characteristic wide-leg cut. Tightening the leg is possible, but a toile will be required to ensure the side seam and overall drape are consistent.

Can you sew Ronsard shorts with the pattern?

To best adapt a trouser pattern into shorts (especially for a model with a cut that clearly defines the hips) you will have to rework the crotch and the side seam. This is possible but requires adjustments for a truly successful result (a toile seems essential to me).

Can I adapt the patterns to my height?

Patterns that require specific height adjustments all include shortening/lengthening lines. This is the case for the Ronsard trousers, the Damas spencer, and the Rosalie dress.
For the Hespéride blouse, the length adjustment is made directly from the bottom of the pieces.

For the Belle Épine top you can choose to lengthen along the line that determines the position of the ruffle or from the bottom of the ruffle. If your bust is long, comparing it to the measurements of the finished garment, lengthen by distributing the measurement a little over the bust part and a little over the ruffle to keep the same look in proportion.

How do I choose my size?

The clothes presented are worn by Vanina in size 50 for the tops and 52 for the dress and pants for a height of 1m72, by Isabelle in size 40 (and 38 for the pants) for a height of 1m70 and by Emilie in size 36 for the tops and dress and 34 for the pants for a height of 1m63.

All models have a finished garment measurement chart available on the product sheet and in the pattern brochure.

Each pattern has a specific cut. The measurement to consider will depend on this criterion. For example, waist or hip measurement is of little importance for the Hespéride blouse, but it is important for the Rosalie dress or Ronsard pants. In any case, a toile is always recommended if you feel you are between several sizes.

I will give you the specifics of each model as well as sizing comparisons with other Maison Fauve patterns.

The Hespéride blouse has a loose, flowing cut, which is the style intended by the pattern, and it is worn in the visuals in the usual size of each model. The pattern is sized like the Tilda blouse, the Mia top, or the Marisa top. I do not recommend sizing down for a more fitted look, as the shoulders and the cutout on the chest are designed for the grading size mentioned.

The Ronsard jeans are high-waisted, slightly above the navel (the ease of the waistband is designed for a very comfortable fit with greater ease than pants with a lower waist). The hips are supported and the leg then widens a lot. I recommend that you sew it in your usual size for a look similar to the photos worn. The model fits like the Hussard pants or the Récif pants, although the waist is a little higher.

The Belle Épine top is fitted on the bust while the bottom of the garment flares out a little (or even a lot if you sew the version with a ruffle). It is cut like the Blush camisole, the Daïquiri top, or the Cicadella top. The essential measurement for this pattern will be the bust measurement. In addition, the bust adjustment will be made from the darts (even if their position is not usual on the top above). You can consult in particular the section dedicated to the Zenith blouse in our free guide to custom sewing downloadable on the site in the "Tutorial" section.

The Damas spencer has a short, fitted cut, which is the "look" of the model. The bottom of the jacket falls at the small of your hips, its length is roughly the same as that of the Métropolis jacket, so as not to reveal the waistband of your trousers. If you have already sewn the Métropolis jacket or the Manhattan jacket at Maison Fauve, choose the same size.

The Rosalie dress is fitted without being tight. The hips and waist are defined but not defined when worn. The upper part of the bodice offers comfortable fullness for the bust. If you adapt your patterns with a FBA, usually make a toile without adjustment to check how the garment fits.

The chest size, waist size and hip size will be important values for these 2 patterns, and if your measurements do not place you in a specific size, you will have to adapt the pattern to your body shape (chest adjustment, grading between several sizes, etc.).

The "shorten and lengthen" lines suggested on the patterns are strategic places where you can make the "connections" between sizes.

We provide you with a free guide to custom sewing that can be downloaded from our website in the “Tutorial” section . It offers you support in adjusting patterns according to your needs and body shape.

Can I sew the Damas jacket/Belle Épine top/Hespéride blouse/Rosalie dress in jersey, fleece, scuba, etc.?

These patterns were made for warp and weft fabrics, they are not designed for knit fabrics (due to their cut, ease and the presence of darts).

What fabric is recommended for sewing my pattern?

The product sheet for each pattern, as well as the brochure, indicates the types of fabric and the recommended weights for sewing your garment.

Will the patterns be available in PDF format soon?

Our new products are exclusively available in pocket patterns. To understand how we work, please watch this video dedicated to how we work with PDF format.

What sewing skills are required for these patterns?

The patterns in this collection are aimed at different levels of seamstress:

  • Beginner : Top Belle Épine

  • Intermediate : Hespéride blouse, Rosalie dress

  • Advanced : Spencer Damas, Ronsard pants

This diversity allows everyone to explore new techniques and progress in sewing thanks to our video tutorials which will be available as soon as the collection goes online.

About fabrics

I want to sew my garment in Alhambra lace, is a lining necessary?

The openwork of our Alhambra lace is quite pronounced, it is recommended to line it with cotton voile in the matching color.

  • For the Belle Épine top, the pattern provides a lining.

  • For the Hespéride blouse, only the top of the front and back are lined. You can either slip a Blush camisole underneath, or cut the bottom front and back in double cotton voile and assemble them edge to edge like the pieces cut from the main fabric, following the assembly instructions.

  • For the Rosalie dress, due to its panel construction and the front slit, I recommend slipping a Blush slip underneath.

On some fabrics, such as tweed, is it necessary to iron on the pieces of Mystic Rose jacquard?

Iron-on adhesive can give your fabric a firm hold and beautiful finishes (well-defined collar, well-drawn cuffs, well-defined neckline, clean cuffs and jacket bottoms). The fact that the fabric is more or less heavy does not change the need to iron-on the pieces. You must adapt the choice of iron-on to your fabric; the recommended iron-on is directly indicated on the product sheets.

On some fabrics, such as tweed, Mystic Rose jacquard or tailored wool, it is not easy to distinguish the wrong side from the right side. Which side should I sew?

Look at and touch your coupon. The choice of the reverse and the right side of the fabric will be at your convenience , but here are the particularities for each fabric:

  • For tweed, the weaving work highlights the different threads to a greater or lesser extent, particularly those in relief (we have favored the most textured side for the right side).

  • For the Mystic Rose jacquard, the tone-on-tone reliefs provided by the light quilting will be more pronounced on one side than the other (we have favored the side with the most visible reliefs in our visuals).

  • For tailored wool, one side is more "bright and shiny" and the other more matte, we have favored the more shiny side.

The stripes of the Parade cotton jacquard fabric are not in the same direction across the width and on the sewn garments, how do I know how much to order?

To create vertical stripes, you'll need to flip your fabric over. For the Damascus jacket and Ronsard jeans patterns, we'll provide the cutting plans and lengths you need on the product sheet.

The useful width height is 1m55, which means that for all your projects requiring up to 1m55 of fabric you can order the indicated footage . For your other creations, I recommend that you arrange your pattern pieces at a height of 1m55 and check the width that your pieces will occupy.

I'm crazy about Abstract Rose viscose poplin, what can I sew with this fabric, and should I line it?

Our viscose poplin is soft, supple, and drapes beautifully. You can sew blouses, tops, and flowing dresses from this fabric. Although lightweight, the fabric is opaque and absolutely does not require lining.

Does the Abstract Rose viscose poplin pattern have a meaning?

The Abstract Rose pattern has a direction; the pretty flowers have their heads facing upwards. This will need to be taken into account when ordering fabric lengths. Fabric usage for the new collection patterns is provided for placement with all pattern pieces facing the same direction, so you can order the usage indicated on the pattern's product sheet.
