Sewing pattern tutorial: the Malibu polo shirt

With its boxy cut, reworked volume and lowered shoulder line, the Malibu sewing pattern revisits the iconic polo shirt for a very sportswear elegance.

Our pretty polo shirt pattern is the perfect sewing project for a quick sew with just the right amount of technicality to keep you from resting on your laurels: it has few pieces, can be sewn in many warp and weft fabrics and is available in elbow-length sleeves and sleeveless versions .

You can sew your polo shirt with the polo tab and the contrasting collar to emphasize the tennis woman look on the loose, or cut your pieces in the same fabric for a more sophisticated style. The yardage indications are indicated for each version on the product sheet of the pattern as well as in the illustrated booklet that accompanies your Maison Fauve pattern.

The technical points covered in this step-by-step video are:

  • Sew a polo-style button placket
  • Assemble a collar without a collar stand
  • Assemble a sleeve flat

Everything will be detailed step by step, and if the pattern is classified as intermediate by the specific technique of its buttoning tab, it will be the ideal model to understand this technical point ;)

Happy sewing!
