Violette: the big return of an iconic pattern!

10 years ago, I created my first pattern. I was a "very young seamstress", driven by the desire to design my wardrobe, and totally captivated by the freedom that sewing offered me to create models that resemble me. A succession of opportunities, like an alignment of the planets, presented themselves and pushed me to try my luck. This first creation turned into a small collection, I founded my brand and launched my first 3 sewing patterns.

It was 10 years ago, and what started as a whim gradually turned into a lifelong adventure that surpasses anything I could have imagined when I created my first pattern. That very first pattern was the Violette blouse .

Violette: the very first model from Maison Fauve

My passion for fashion met a universe that was new to me. I discovered in sewing the possibility of creating a garment that was beautiful, timeless, accessible in terms of sewing level, with a clean line and a search for singularity that would be played out in the details. Violette was the first pattern to embody this vision.

I didn't have the experience I have today, as a seamstress or as a designer. However, Violette immediately won over the couture community. Identifiable at first glance, it is at the origin of what I will perpetually seek in my creations, season after season, collection after collection: a look, a signature . This pattern remained for years one of the flagship models of the Maison Fauve wardrobe.

I have progressed, I have evolved in my profession, and my way of designing and developing patterns has also followed this progression. The creation of Maison Fauve patterns has been done for several years according to more established processes.

6 years ago, I expanded the size range of the new patterns, and took over some of the previous models to follow this evolution. This led me to rethink the brand's standards, with a phase of work on the cut and testing to validate the sizing which became more rigorous. And I started working with a pattern maker whose expertise and know-how allowed us to evolve towards the level of quality that I was aiming for.

Although I am very attached to Violette, I felt that it no longer corresponded to what Maison Fauve had become. And so I decided to no longer include the model in our pattern catalog.

A signature boss, back with improvements

This year we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of Maison Fauve. I have thought a lot about how to celebrate this with you. Everything will be revealed to you tomorrow, February 12th.

And for this new cycle that is offered to us, I wanted to return to my first love, my very first creation. Violette is therefore back… Or rather, Violette is reborn . I kept everything that made up the DNA of the model, but by starting its development from the beginning. The new Violette pattern was developed by following all the creative steps that I established at Maison Fauve.

Vanina wears the Violette blouse sewn in Passion Red viscose twill in size 50.

Marie-Sophie is wearing the Violette blouse sewn in champagne Reflet satin in size 36.

Julie is wearing the Violette blouse sewn in Botanica Chocolat lace sewn in size 40.

Here are the changes made :

  • The balance of the model has been rethought, following from the start our criteria concerning the build, the shoulder line, the evolution in gradation of the pattern.

  • The testing phase was particularly thorough. Violette may seem to be a "simple" model, but everything is played out in the accuracy of its proportions. The neckline has been redesigned, the cleanliness of the neckline reworked, the size of the back yoke and the work on the sleeve offer comfort and ease of wear.

  • A brand new PDF format accompanies this development , designed to improve the sewing experience.

This last point marks a turning point for Maison Fauve
