Santa Fe and Sailor, the perfect summer duo!
Hello! I'm on vacation with Maison Fauve but that doesn't stop me from working in the shadows...or rather under the sun and the invigorating ocean air! There's a lot of work to do to prepare the new collection and even outside of my home I'm not idle. I can't show you my work for the fall winter collection yet, but I obviously had a blast sewing outfits this summer, and it's a set that I love that I'm showing you today: the Sailor overalls combo in shorts and Santa Fé top version. Yes yes it is indeed the Santa Fé sewing pattern, my beloved asymmetrical top...but here symmetrical :) It's very easy, on your front pieces of the pattern, the straight grain is drawn right in the middle (and there is also a middle front mark which is a notch on the neckline). Extend your drawing, fold the middle front of the chosen side, and that's it! The Santa Fé top pattern has several variations (small sleeve like here, sleeveless in an American armhole style, or with a knot, and with or without a collar) you now have new versions that are possible and that's nice! As I know that asymmetry can be intimidating, the pattern will allow you to sew tops without this detail but still great! And I chose, while hacking my pattern, to shorten it in a crop top style, the front is shorter than the back. I only wear high waisted jeans at the moment, so I like to wear my tops tucked in or like here shorter than usual. The top is sewn with a very beautiful cotton viscose fabric with pretty multi-colored embroidered details that comes from Eglantine et Zoé . I lined it with nude silk, it's discreet and very comfortable (because the reverse side of the fabric with lurex embroidery can scratch a little). The Sailor overalls were sewn last year and this version in snake-effect denim (the fabric is an old co' from Pretty Mercerie which is unfortunately sold out) is still my favorite summer outfit when I want a casual outfit (overalls...) but that rocks (silver snake...), you know what I mean! The Sailor and Santa Fé patterns are available in my eshop in pouch format here , but also in pdf format there ! The photos were taken at the Lez market in Montpellier, in front of the magnificent frescoes by the artists Koralie and Supakitch , which are worth a look and make a magnificent backdrop for photos ;) And I'm taking advantage of this article to relay an interview I did for the blog of the Brightechshop site, which offers lighting but also more tech lamps for seamstresses, knitters, embroiderers, etc. (it's in English but it's nice!!!) https://blog.brightechshop.com/sewing/how-to-sew-cut-clothes-for-beginners/ Have a great week, whether you're on vacation or back at work, and I hope it will be punctuated by beautiful sunshine and pretty sewing projects :)
