Crochet Knit: The Fall Trend Inspired by the Maritime World
Navy Crochet Knit: The Elegance Of Crochet For Your Autumn Wardrobe
Sailor stripes are a wardrobe hit, and crochet knit by Maison Fauve is no longer reserved for holidays and summer. As autumn sets in, so does the desire to snuggle into comforting fabrics. This season, crochet knit is emerging as a key trend. Elegant, pleasant to wear, and easy to sew, our crochet fabric playfully joins the Le Rivage collection. With its beautiful stripes on an ecru background, the trompe-l’œil sailor style is just right, combining style and comfort with a touch of romance.
Fisherman Inspiration: An Authentic and Timeless Style
The maritime world, with its colours and textures, has always been a source of inspiration for fashion. This season, crochet knit takes hold of this universe, revisiting traditional fisherman styles with a touch of femininity and sophistication. The openwork patterns, robust yarns, and earthy colours evoke fishing nets, seaside cabins, and the softness of coastal landscapes... Perfectly in tune with the mood of the Le Rivage collection!
A hit for autumn, the black and white stripe appears on tops, dresses, and even accessories with woven effects.
The Spritz Dress In Crochet Knit: A Concentrate of Charm and Femininity
With its fluid and elegant silhouette, the Spritz tank top reimagined as a dress in crochet knit is adorable for enjoying the beautiful autumn days. Accessorise it with a cardigan, a pair of ankle boots, and a little jacket.
We used the pattern of the Spritz tank top, simply extended by 50 cm by prolonging the side seam to create this dress. The neckline and armhole finishes are done with a black cotton voile bias (the pieces are included in your pattern).
The Granite Jumper In Crochet Knit: A Cosy and Trendy Piece
The Granite jumper is a true cocoon of softness. In crochet knit, it also moves away from the sporty sweatshirt identity and transforms into a cute sailor jumper with its round neck and boxy fit (loose and cropped). The sleeves are the charming feature of the pattern, with lovely volume created by the pleats at the cuff. Worn with the Récif trousers, the Granite jumper in crochet has a relaxed and trendy style, perfect for cool autumn days. And when paired with the Grenadine mini skirt, the sailor jumper becomes femininity incarnate!
I’ll detail in this journal article how to sew the Granite pattern using our crochet fabric.
The Malibu Polo In Crochet Knit: A Reimagined Classic
The Malibu polo reinterprets the classic sporty men’s wardrobe staple, adding a feminine touch. Its fine, airy crochet knit is both elegant and comfortable. The black and ecru stripes, along with the black collar and button placket, transition it into a more everyday wardrobe, very Riviera! With its beautiful RECIF trousers in sandy tones, Christine looks incredibly chic in the Malibu polo.
Between Jacket and Cardigan, Metropolis Charms in Crochet Knit
With its faux Chanel jacket vibes, lovely short cut, and trompe-l’œil double-breasted design, the Metropolis jacket is a pattern I never tire of revisiting. In crochet knit, it is simply adorable and will be a perfect mid-season jacket, easy to layer under a coat later on.
This version is sewn considering the specifics of our crochet fabric:
-
I chose not to include the decorative bands on the bodice to avoid weighing down the garment, as I feared they wouldn’t lay ideally when sewn in this fabric (they could create bulk and twist).
-
To facilitate the fabric feed during the buttonhole step, I used a well-fused black cotton voile for the neckline facing, as indicated in the pattern.
-
I skipped the shoulder pads to give it a drape closer to a knitted cardigan.
-
The lining is ecru, made from our cupro lining fabric, to ensure comfort when worn (for slightly fitted jackets, it’s best to use slippery linings, and cupro also has breathable properties compared to polyester).
Here’s the cutting layout adapted for the Metropolis pattern to cut your crochet fabric while considering the joins:
